The G26 used to detect the oil mist in open spaces to protect ship and crew from fire. It is a simple and reliable system, and does not require much maintenance except occasional cleaning of the lenses and calibration. It detects oil that was converted to mist. Preventing against fire hazards, it is important to have early alarms on the formation of oil mist in the atmosphere to identify the risk of fire hazard, especially at locations with high potential of oil mist generation.
